A holiday property that feels like home

A cosy, well equipped and stylish space in the centre of town...

About No1

This lovely property is a wonderfully up to date conversion of an old cotton mill. Airy and full of light, it's been called "a Grand Designs House" with eco credentials that include being built into the hillside and huge solar gain from the south facing double height windows. Our visitors' first reaction is usually that it is much bigger and open than they expected.

Architecturally striking, this is a mezzanine design over two floors with ceilings up to 18 feet high yet it feels cosy, intimate, private, safe and a home from home. You can park two cars outside on the quiet, cobbled cul-de-sac and two bikes inside.

Accommodation
This property is designed to be a romantic getaway for couples or a retreat from the world for a single, perhaps to just read, write and walk. There is a spare inflatable (with pump!) double bed for kids or a visiting (close) friend or couple.

No1 is furnished with a mix of vintage and contemporary stuff;  Eames and Noguchi, vintage Ikea and a squashy, embracing leather settee that will swallow you up and make you feel you never want to get up again. There's a relaxed lounge with the most beautiful antique chair (once part of a set that belonged to the president of the Royal Horticultural Society) a glass writing desk with office chair, great kitchen, and a wonderfully romantic bedroom, all with great lighting for reading and relaxing.

Equipment levels are high. Low energy LED lighting, HDTV with DVD and FreeView (digital TV and radio) that plays through a Tivoli sound system with sub that will also take your iPod; Roberts FM radio downstairs.

There is wifi (it can be turned off if you prefer) and wired Internet access (Ethernet), with unlimited download and high speed. There are a pile of DVDs provided too and more books than you could read in a year.

The bedroom (actually a massive deck that floats over the living area) can be enclosed with lovely purple voile curtains, there is mood lighting, a large kingsize bed (with extra memory foam on the frame so it doesn't hurt your legs getting in and out) with a hypoallergenic genuine latex mattress and a mattress topper, rugs and cushions galore. If you have a small child or a friend staying over there is a good quality blow up mattress (with pump!) - however, due to extra work and laundry for our lovely cleaner we would apply a £40 surcharge for this.

The kitchen is a fantastic size and well equipped with Smeg appliances, fridge and freezer, microwave, halogen cooker, slow cooker, salad spinner, high power juicer, Poole Pottery dinner set, scales, baking stuff, lovely cutlery (everyday and a special canteen for entertaining), high quality kitchen knives, all utensils, pans etc plus seating for four and additional seating (+4) should you need it. You can prepare dinner whilst talking to other members of your party in the open plan living area, so cooking on holiday needn't be a chore.

The contemporary bathroom has a shower, bath, illuminated bathroom mirror and cabinet with charging / shaver point and heated towel rail, high and low lighting, the latter without the extractor fan. We fitted a British built A rated condenser boiler for piping hot water and instant heating.
